Clock ticking away for Syrian crisis solution

TEHRAN, Feb. 11 (MNA) – Iran’s Javad Zarif has told reporters in Munich time is ending for a solution to Syrian crisis.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is in Germany for a two-day Munich Security Conference and also International Syria Support Group, and participated in a press conference on Thursday, where he believed that the western countries should accurately assess the threat of ISIL and the realities on the ground in Syria for hitting a solution to the crisis. “Some countries involved in Syrian crisis have claimed that the time has come to an end for a solution to Syrian crisis but at the same time they had been sabotaging the peace process itself; we believe that the deadline for a solution now well belong to the past; the promise of solution has not been lived to due to unattainable, illegitimate, and irrational preconditions set by different parties involved,” he emphasized in a response to a question about the solution deadline.

“Those parties outside Syria should accurately evaluate their responsibility of facilitating peace process; they should wisely avoid setting preconditions for Syrian government and people; I believe systematically undermining of the talks had been rife among the different parties to the talks in the past rounds,” he objected. “We are now in an important junction in time which direly requires seriousness; I believe it is imperative for peace talks to come to a success determining the warring factions eligible for sitting in negotiation table and distinguishing them from terrorists.”

“I will met some bilateral meetings with countries involved about Syria, including UN special envoy to Syria, Chinese, and Russian counterpart,” he told reporters. International Syria Support Group will be held in Munich, Germany, with foreign ministers of 15 countries and delegations of international organizations 18 hours local time.
